Mother of Honey Boo Boo facing drug charges

| Mar 20, 2019 | Drug Crimes

Texas fans of Honey Boo Boo might be interested in learning that her mother, June Shannon, was recently arrested in Alabama at a gas station. Shannon and her boyfriend were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Her boyfriend was also arrested on a charge of domestic violence.

According to news reports, police responded to the gas station on a domestic violence call. Lab reports have not yet been received, but officials state that they believe that the couple possessed cocaine. Both Shannon and her boyfriend were released on $11,000 bond the same day of their arrests.

Shannon’s daughter rose to fame after she appeared on the show “Toddlers and Tiaras”. She was subsequently featured in her own show called “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”. The show was later canceled after Shannon started dating a registered sex offender. However, the relationship with that man ended, and Shannon and her current boyfriend of three years have appeared on a new show called “Mama June: From Not to Hot”.It is unclear where the alleged cocaine was found or if the officers had a search warrant.

People who are accused of drug crimes might want to retain experienced criminal defense lawyers as soon as possible. Attorneys might review what occurred and identify problems with the way in which the investigation was handled. In this case, a lawyer might challenge the search and seizure, depending on how it occurred. Whether the drug charges against Shannon stick might depend on where the drugs were located. In some cases, attorneys might be able to win dismissal of the charges against their clients. In others, they might work to secure favorable plea agreements.
