Some Texans may remember Artie Lange, a comedian who regularly appeared on the “Howard Stern Show” for several years. It now appears that Lange has been arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in Hoboken, New Jersey.
According to officers with the Hoboken Police Department, they received a dispatch to respond to a garage in the city. The caller reported that someone suspicious was attempting to get into a car. When the police looked at the car, they reportedly saw baggies of suspected cocaine and heroin in plain sight inside of the vehicle. The police report that Lange then approached the officers and admitted that he was the vehicle’s owner. The officers then searched him, and they allegedly found additional baggies of heroin and cocaine on his person.
Lange has discussed his problems with drug abuse and addiction in the past very openly. He previously also attempted suicide in 2010. This latest incident happened on March 12. It is unclear when Lange may be scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges against him.
People who are facing drug charges might want to consider hiring criminal defense attorneys who are experienced in defending against drug allegations as soon as they are able to do so. Attorneys may use a combination of their knowledge of the law, their negotiating abilities and their litigation skills in order to build a strong defense to the charges. An attorney may analyze the evidence in order to assess whether or not the police made errors with how they gathered the evidence and handled the investigation. Legal counsel might challenge the admissibility of certain pieces of key evidence if they were handled or gathered inappropriately.
