NFL receiver charged with DUI following game loss

Texas NFL fans may have heard that Michael Floyd, a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, was charged with DUI on Dec. 12. According to the Scottsdale Police Department, he was found sleeping behind the wheel of his vehicle in Arizona. He was taken into custody hours after playing against the Dolphins in Miami.

At approximately 2:48 a.m., the receiver was reportedly found by the authorities slumped in his vehicle, which was still running. He was taken into custody where he was charged with two counts of DUI, one count of failing to obey a police officer and one count of obstructing the roadway. This marks the second DUI for Floyd as he was accused of driving under the influence back in 2011 while he was in college.

The incident could have an impact on his career. Although he has not been convicted, he could potentially face a two-game suspension. Additionally, the incident may also have an impact on any future deal he could be a part of if he becomes a free agent.

People who have been accused of drunk driving could face severe consequences that may include a loss of their license, possible jail time and a heavy fines if a conviction is obtained. These types of convictions can also have an effect on a person's career or future employment prospects. As a result, people in this situation may want to meet with a criminal defense attorney so that a strategy for combating the allegations can be developed. One potential line of defense could be to challenge the traffic stop that led to the arrest as not being made with the required reasonable suspicion.
